Kindergarten 2

At Kindergarten 2, children build a foundation for all later academic disciplines by learning essential skills that help them in schooling years.

Through investigative experiments, role play and problem-solving tasks, your child attains confidence and the ability to achieve long-term goals in a fast-changing, globalised world.

With increased social competence, confidence and emotional maturity, your child continues to work collaboratively in projects — demonstrating critical thinking, exploration of ideas and concepts, and problem solving in our inquiry-based learning environment. By the end of Kindergarten 2, your child will be equipped with the life skills and character development that are important factors for school and lifelong learning.

Focused competencies

Areas of development

At each stage we nurture the whole child across these developmental domains.

Language & Communication — Phonological Awareness

Expressing ideas and communicating in sentences during group discussions; presenting an idea with short sentences in front of peers; responding well to questions; writing short sentences and their names with conventional spelling.

Cognitive & Brain

Planning the process of completing a task and showing perseverance; problem-solving and observational skills; applying information to new contexts; logical thinking, creativity and imagination.

Self & Social

Increasing independence, self-awareness and emotional regulation; understanding and standing up for one's rights; positive attitudes; cooperative, prosocial behaviour; compromising and resolving conflicts cooperatively.

Sensory & Psychomotor

Making use of the senses in visual, sound, taste and smell with different abilities; discriminating skills with complex and conventional ways of creating large motor activities independently.

Pre-primary

Preparation for the schooling year

At this stage it becomes important that children acquire the basic skills required for the next school placement. A special Pre-Primary Preparation programme runs between July and December each year for all students graduating from Kindergarten to an international or local school. They experience similar teaching styles and learning, and their independence and social skills are reinforced — ensuring a smooth, successful transition to schooling years.
